Owner of an enviable historical, cultural and contructed heritage, Porto is a city with a strong turistic presence and the gap between the casual experience and the actual living is inevitable. For both turist and residents, it is essencial to take a new look what surrounds us. It is essencial to take part of the city as it is, with no inconsequent props. ESCADA proposes a contribution to that: to having a more rooted relationship with a reality that is not meant to be changed, but emphasized. This installation does not create a new object to be admired it itself: it simply iluminates the existing space in a different way, paying attention to the space, to the city that was there prior to our arrival. It's around that heritage that's important to work and reclaim the spotlight. Short-circuiting the duality between what is and what is seen, reality comes to light: its beauty and charm, as well as its poorest parts, its inequalities and limitations.
